Hi there. We’re super into peak performance.
Hello, hello, hello — over here at Ultraworking, we’re very seriously into peak performance. We constantly study and test just about everything related to peak individual and team performance, and build it into technology that’s delightful to use and produces surprisingly good results.
With customers at Google, NASA, Ernst & Young, and many top programmers, business owners, attorneys, and other “analytical ambitious people” — our tech is being used by people in the most demanding fields, and getting rave reviews across the board.
On this page,
Some past media appearances we’ve done.
An inside look at some of our technologies and results.
Some ideas if you’d like to get a conversation going and have a great podcast or other media appearance together.
Ultraworking’s Cofounder and CEO, Sebastian Marshall, has appeared on a lot of top media around the world with some brilliant thinkers. Here’s three of our favorites if you want to get a flavor —
A relatively hardcore look at self-experimentation, tools, and systems with Mikael Syding and Ludvig Sunstrom — many immediately actionable points to put into action immediately.
An end-of-2017 with the brilliant hosts of Ecommerce Influence, Austin Brawner and Andrew Foxwell.
Actual introductory dialog —
Austin Brawner: “Sebastian Marshall is a productivity genius.”
Andrew Foxwell: “I’d agree with that assessment. I mean, this is guy is nuts — I’m so glad you brought him on. He’s nuts in a good way — he has figured out that system.”
Austin Brawner: “If you’ve ever been in a position where you’re not satisfied with the way you’re producing or want to figure out a better way to produce things, Sebastian is the guy. He analyzes things from a different perspective than anyone I’ve heard. He’s a world-class thinker.”
What We Do
We study just about everything related to peak individual and team performance, and build as many best practices into technology as possible.
Here’s a selection —
A social accountability with a super-lightweight structure for staying on track for multiple hours. TWG has produced seemingly magical results for people in demanding professions in 15+ countries.
TWG is designed to create the most effective space for users to perfect their “form” of working, find a community of like-minded people, and to generally work harder.
What started out as just a spreadsheet has transformed into a 16-day event called the Pentathlon – a competition where people from all over the world virtually come together and push their limits to reach peak performance in their respective work. The competition is designed to tap into natural human drives and inclinations – people are placed into teams and are scored on their work while also getting scored on striking balance in their nutrition, physical fitness, sleep schedule, and planning.
Now at its tenth edition (upcoming in January 2019), the Pentathlon has helped participants become more productive and establish permanent habits.
“Work Cycles” is one of the things past customers have loved the very most. People really, really like it. Top attorneys and accountants sign up repeatedly and refer their friends. Startup founders, business owners, top students, programmers, writers, translators, even veteran military officers rave about Cycles.
Simply put, Work Cycles is a lightweight dashboard that users engage with during a multi-hour work session specifically designed to promote flow state and get work done quickly. It’s a simple concept, but don’t be fooled by the simplicity — people report getting 4x more stuff done than they do working alone.
All around the world, top performers are using a Lights Spreadsheet for greater motivation, consistency, control, ability to analyze, and just staying on track with having an amazing life. The Spreadsheet helps to instil better habits and gives users a comprehensive overview of their daily habits. Our customers love Lights and have great things to say about it.
One of the core beliefs at Ultraworking is that users can be highly successful if they can navigate all the timeframes of their lives very well.
The Monthly Planning process was built to facilitate having great months. The process, built as a smart spreadsheet, is easy to use, dead-simple, and very powerful. Users get to debrief the past month and plan the next for max success, as well as some guidance and best practices.
We’ve already run Work Cycles live around the world on three continents — and whether the event is in Auckland or Austin, Seoul or San Francisco, the results are always the same — people love it.
We’re now just started running some rounds of live Work Cycles worldwide — we’ve just recently hosted in New Zealand and Colombia — and have upcoming events in Russia and Greece.
A 24/7 event consisting of:
(1) Live work sessions called “Work Cycles” — a lightweight template proven to make work go faster and more enjoyably
(2) Preparation materials before the event to set yourself up for maximum success, and;
(3) A mix of great people always available via videoconferencing led by a skilled moderator so you’ve always got supportive people there to work alongside you
People Are Saying…
We’ve got literally dozens of pages of unsolicited reviews and testimonials. Here’s a few —
“I was pleasantly surprised with my performance — at least 3x more productive than normal. I’ve read about productivity best practices and implemented some of them before, but you have to try something like this to really experience the benefits.” — Neil Taylor, Commercial Director at Mobedia; London, UK
“As a programmer when I first heard of cycles I had some reservations. But after some real world experience, I went on to realize that if your tasks aren't divided into small enough pieces that they fit within 30 minutes, you probably don't know the problem well enough. So now I'm sold on using cycles for programming - it's saved me from a lot of wasted time and effort.” — Han Chang, Programmer; San Francisco, California, USA
“Your Lights Spreadsheet idea has been one of the most useful things I have done in my life. I've been running on it uninterruptedly for exactly two years this month and it's helped/helping me build better habits, drop bad ones and track how other things in my life are going.” — James Kakuta; Los Angeles, CA
The Work Gym
"TWG is already past break even for me cost wise and net positive ROI in a single cycles session." — Gabriel Stein, Entrepreneur; Sacramento, CA
“I feel like I 2-3x'd my productivity and consistency. Especially regarding MIW. Before this, I had priorities, but I never labeled anything as "Most Important Work" before. Simply having that distinction and going through the simple exercises to identify this work is a game changer for me.” — Justine Pattantyus, Operations Expert; Burlington, Vermont
“Enthusiastically recommended IF you’re serious about leveling-up.” — Gregg Jones, U.S. Army Special Forces Officer (retired), Professor at Georgetown University; Washington, D.C.
Shall we do a marvelous show together?
The obvious topics, of course, are very practical ones — how to set up your goals and systems, stick with new habits, get into the always-marvelous flow state more often, get more results, get results faster, and things of that nature. That’s… what we do.
Beyond individual performance, we’re happy to talk about team dynamics, personalities, figuring out who is a good fit for a team, building a company or organization based on values, and cultivating better collaborations and friendships.
Less obvious topics — Sebastian is a pretty serious amateur historian who has studied a lot of historical eras; it’s amazing how many similarities and parallels happen across different ages and the things we can learn from different cultures.
Applied mathematics, statistics, and data are either going to put a given audience to sleep… or wake them up and get them totally hyped. Most of the value from math is not from very advanced techniques, but from learning how to use basic applied math well to improve your life.
And finally, would you be interested in talking about philosophy, about meaning, about having a really marvelous life where you can make contributions and build up the world? Before Ultraworking, Sebastian spent five years in the nonprofit and education world and has a lot of thoughts on really just thriving across all levels and having a fantastic life.
If you’d like to do a show together, we’re all about doing very serious research and preparation to understand you and your audience — to make a really beautiful, practical, powerful show together.
That might be tactics and actions that can be implemented right away. That might be systems and operations to ensure larger-term initiatives and organizations succeed. Or perhaps it’s on the more broad philosophical level, how to really search out what matters to help listeners think through important topics and find more meaning and clarity.
We sometimes joke, “Come for the productivity, stay for the philosophy” — in any event, every host and every audience is different, and we’d be delighted to work with you to put together a really wonderful show.
Sebastian, Kai, Nabilah, and all your friends at Ultraworking
